I’m Too Young

I’m Too Young

As a financial strategist I come across all types of reasons people are not where they desire to be financially in life. Most of the time I’m not baffled by the reason or excuse, but there is one that gets me every time. If you read my title than you got it “I’m too young to understand, be concerned, or care about money right now”.
I get this response from individuals between the ages of 19 to 28. I look at them in almost utter disbelief, but I try hard to keep my composure. I’m thinking to myself don’t you spend money at least once a week if not every day? Do you not own a car, or wish to own a car? Do you not have a bank account, or know what one is? Do you not work a job? I know those questions are trivial or may even seem quite obvious, but those are the questions running through my mind that I wonder have they considered. Unless you are not old enough to bath yourself, go to the restroom on your own, and dress yourself daily, you are not too young to care about money and how it works.

The earlier you learn about money, how it works, and how to make it work for you the greater your chances are of having a healthy financial portfolio. No let’s keep this topic in laymen terms the greater your chances are of having a healthy life. Finance is ranked as one of the top reasons people divorce, individuals become victim to substance abuse, and other types of abuse. Do your own research and see how not understanding money and not having any can ruin you. Some of you don’t have to do any research just take inventory of your own lives, and those around you. I just made it out of the millennial age bracket, and I can tell you in my business I know at least 5 Millennial’s that are making well over 6 figures and they aren’t even 25 years old yet. There’s no age excuse for being broke, or wasteful with money in America.

I started my journey at age 19 when I started my first business and I started working in finances at age 22. I can tell you now starting at those two ages saved me a ton of heartache in comparison to some of my age school friends, and even my senior friends over 55 years of age. It’s not that I am better than they are, or that God loves me more than them. It’s because I started caring at a very young age, and got the financial education at an earlier age than most! I really wish I had grown up in a household that taught me how finances worked. I would be even further along in life than I am right now. Want to learn how you can start today?
